What to expect on your first visit

We are aware that by the time you come to the clinic you may be very concerned about your pelvic health. We are here to listen, understand and help you return to a healthier level of function.

During the first session, the therapist will listen to your history including your general medical history and current limitations. Your therapist may evaluate flexibility, core and lower extremity strength and movement patterns. Your breathing patterns will also be assessed as they play an important role in pelvic health. An internal exam of your pelvic floor may be needed to better understand the origin of your dysfunction and pain. The therapist understands that this is a very personal and private situation, so that part of the exam will only take place when the patient is comfortable with the procedure and provided consent from the patient. A chaperone is always welcome for evaluation and any follow up treatment sessions, whether it is clinic provided or a family member/friend provided by the patient.

After the evaluation your physical therapist will develop an individual plan of care which may consist of manual techniques, exercises and a home program. We also have connections to other medical professionals including acupuncturists, chiropractors, internal medicine doctors, gynecologists and massage therapists who can participate in your program if needed.

Our main goal is to return you to a healthy and happy lifestyle. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in your recovery.
